We caught a thief!!!

Some days are filled with more excitement than others. Today I was out getting the mail when I saw a group of 4 boys riding bikes. Since Connor's bike was stolen, I keep my eyes open for suspicious activity in the neighborhood. Right away these boys seemed to be up to no good. There was a bike in the yard across the street next to the sidewalk where they stopped. The boys stopped there at the corner and I heard them say "Hey, this bike must be free!" I wanted to say to them that they better not take that bike if it isn't theirs, but I thought they saw me watching them and would know better. Well, one of the boys got off the bike he was riding and took the bike that was sitting in the yard. He rode one way and the rest of the boys went the other way, and I heard them say they would meet up. In the meantime, I had Cody get Travis from the house, and Travis went to look for the boys. He saw them in a park up the street and they all had bikes that were spray painted. Obviously all stolen. He questioned the boys and a couple of them told him the name of the other boy that took the bike. As Travis was coming home I saw the boy that took the bike coming back to meet up with his friends. I waved Travis down and told him that was the boy that took the bike. Travis went after him and told him to stop and he brought him back up the street. Sure enough, the boy had gone home and painted the once orange bike with blue spray paint to disguise it. We called the police and awaited their arrival. The policeman put the boy in the back of his car after hearing our statements and proceeded to try to find the owner of the bike. As Cody was watching all of this he saw the police car across the street with the boy inside and said "don't worry, you'll look good in prison orange." I laughed. He had just heard that phrase the day before on a SpongeBob episode. Hilarious! Hopefully a lesson learned for our boys to be good. :-)

Uh oh!

Well, I was hoping this day wouldn't come this early, but today I received a call from school. Mr. Goetz, the school administrator, told me that he had Cody in his office along with another boy from Cody's class. Apparently, Cody's teacher asked Mr. Goetz to talk to the boys regarding their behavior. They had been shoving and hitting each other so the teacher decided they should be taken aside to make sure they know the rules. We will see what Cody's take is on this when we talk to him about it this evening...stay tuned.

Time Flies

Hard to believe it has almost been a year since I posted anything.  At that time I had good intentions of posting more regularly to capture things going on throughout the year.  Well, I am going to try again. We are getting close to another new school year.  Connor is a senior!  I am still trying to wrap my head around it.  The time has gone so fast.  We went to several open houses for friends of his that graduated this year.  It makes me sad even though I know it is a part of life.  Part of starting up this blog again is to help me put my feelings down as we go through the journey of life.  Cody is starting 8th grade.  One last year of middle school. Both boys make me so proud.  They both continue to play hockey.  Cody is still a goalie and does such a good job in a tough position.  Me, on the other hand...being a goalie mom is not easy.  Almost a year ago my grandma moved in with us.  I am blessed to still have a grandparent in my life.  It is an honor to take care of her but h

Proud Parents

Last night we had a goal conference for Connor. We are so proud of him. He is doing wonderful in school and has had a lot of scores of 100% and above! His test scores are wonderful. He is scoring very high and is at the top of his class. He is also in GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) again this year for math and science. We are so proud!
